GROUT CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Routine maintenance of grout does not differ from tile care.

  • For stubborn grout stains, agitation with a fiber or nylon-type scrubbing pad and a recommended grout cleaning solution will assist in the removal process.
  • If grout appearance becomes unacceptable, your tile distributor offers specialized products to address this problem. Follow specific product directions. RECONDITIONING CERAMIC TILE INSTALLATIONS: Begin the reconditioning process with a clean surface. Follow tile cleaning and stripping procedures previously mentioned, and always begin by testing an inconspicuous area first.
  • Remove stubborn stains. There are four common types of stains: grease/oil, soap scum, hard water deposits, and rust. Contact your tile distributor for recommended specific cleaning products.
  • Allow the tile installation to dry thoroughly and make sure its appearance is acceptable before you apply any sealers. Follow the sealer manufacturer's directions.
  • DAILY MAINTENANCE AND GUIDLINES

  • To maintain the beauty and elegance of Roca tiles, we advise daily cleaning with conventional methods.
  • Remove soil with a broom, non-oily dust mop or vacuum. Use a scraper or putty knife to remove any stubborn surface debris. We do not recommend using dust-catching mops with silicone and waxes. The surface must be washed with a neutral soap and the amount of hot water recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Do not use cleaning products containing wax, brighteners or similar additives, since in time they may leave a waterproof layer on the tile which alters its surface appearance
  • We strongly recommend the use of doormats, which must remain clean, in entrances to tiled areas, whether from the street, terrace or garden, to prevent the entry of abrasive elements. We recommend special care in zones close to beaches or construction works, where there is a risk of sand and stones being brought in.
  • It is advisable to place protections on objects which can mark the tiles if dragged (metal table legs, chairs, etc.) being especially careful with shiny and satin-finished products.
  • If the tiles cannot be cleaned completely, we provide the following table showing suitable cleaning agents for each type:

  • ROUND CUTTING

    To pass a pipe through the tile, tile has to be cut in a specific manner. Mark its position on the tile. Draw a straight line passing through the center of the circle. Cut the tile on the line drawn. Cut the semi-circle on each of the half, these two halves placed together

    CURVE AND ROUND CUTTING

    To fill the around the curve surface of wash basin etc. measure and mark the curve on cardboard and place the cardboard on the tile to cut it.

    TILES LAYING

    Apply a high quality ceramic adhesive on the wall and place the first tiles on the corner. Apply even pressure on the four corners of tiles to ensure adhesion of tiles to substrate. Cover the Area of wall that can be done without cutting tiles and leave it for at least 12 hours. Cover the rest of area with measured and cut tiles as per requirement.

    TILE PREPARATION

    Mix the tiles with different cartons which help in fine blending of shades. Ample lighting should be provided. Ech boshould be spread and mixed on the floor to check for any variation mixing of tiles brings harmony to shade by avoiding obvious patches. Prior to fixing. Tiles should be immersed in water for 15 / 20 minutes.

    NEWLY INSTALLED TILE SHOULD BE CLEANED AS FOLLOWS:

    1- Remove loose dirt by sweeping or vacuuming.

    2- Following directions, prepare a cleaning solution using a neutral ph cleaner designed specifically for ceramic tile. These types of cleaners are available from ceramic tile suppliers.

    3- Thoroughly clean the ceramic tile, including the grout joints, following the manufacturer’s instructions.

    4- Rinse thoroughly with clean, warm water and allow drying. A second rinsing with clean water may be necessary to completely remove all the cleaning solution. Consult with your tile and sealer manufacturers to determine if the selected sealer is appropriate for the tile.


  • For added protection of cement-based grout, a grout sealer may be applied in accordance to the grout manufacturer’s instructions. Grout sealers are also available through your tile supplier.
  • Generally, grout sealers are not intended to change the appearance of the grout. Always test an inconspicuous area first to verify the desired appearance results. Tile and floor covering stores sell cleaning products developed specifically for cleaning tile and stone. These specialized cleaning products generally outperform products available in supermarkets or hardware stores.
  • COMMON PROBLEMS

    You can avoid most problems cleaning ceramic tile by following manufacturer recommendations.


  • If you use materials unsuitable for your tile and grout, the properties and/or appearance of your ceramic tile installation may be altered, and the installation may deteriorate. Check with your tile distributor and cleaning products manufacturer.
  • Ask your dealer for complete information about your ceramic tile and grout, because your ability to identify the type of tile and grout will reduce the likelihood that you will use the wrong product.
  • Always save a few extra tiles when your ceramic tile installation has been completed.
  • Always clean up spills as soon as possible. Materials left on your tile installation can be drawn or ground into your tile or grout, making cleanup more difficult.
  • RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • Always lay out the tiles, pulling from multiple cartons, prior to installation to achieve color consistency.
  • When using recommended products for tiled areas, protect surrounding non-tiled surfaces. Tile cleaning and maintenance products can adversely affect metals, glass, wood, etc.
  • When in doubt, contact the tile distributor or product manufacturer. Choose and use properly designated maintenance products to enjoy the beauty and durability inherent in your ceramic tile installation.
  • The tile colors that you see on this web site are not an actual representation of the tile. Please request samples for color matching purposes.
  • A degree of shading is inherent in the manufacturing of glazed tiles. Before installation, please ensure an acceptable blend of shade can be achieved. Please also check the shade rating.
